Another Way To Die..

No, I'm not looking for a way to off myself or planning a killing spree..
Disturbed is releasing a new album, Asylum, in August and this is their new single:

Oxymoron..

Ok, so the previous blog post was pretty.. boring. We were at least two to agree on that. But.. Some things just have to be written and that was one of those. Not that I had to make it public, but.. meh.

It's been a while since I threw in a "Word of the day" - probably shouldn't even call it that, when it's more like "Word of the 'whenever-I-sporadically-feel-like-it'" - so I thought it was about time I gave you another one.

This time, the word is Oxymoron. I'm not going to explain what an oxymoron is, the link to Wikipedia and this one to Wiktionary can do that for you, but I will give some examples:

silent scream
pretty ugly
upside down
cold hotdog
a little pregnant
honest liar
freezer burn

I think you get the picture. You can find more oxymorons - and LoL - @ oxymoronlist.com

IE FAIL, Fx FTW..

Yepp, I'm a sucker for abbreviations.. If I was to spell the title out properly, in case you're stuck in a pre-"extensive emoticon use" era, it would say "Internet Explorer is failing, Firefox For The Win" .. but it would actually mean something more in the lines of:

"Explorer SUCKS and keeps messing with all the changes I do to my blog,

just to make things more complicated than necessary.

Mozilla Firefox is a lot smarter and a hell of a lot more user friendly,

so I'm going back to using it and it alone."

My point - exactly..

In other words: This blog will most likely look a little strange if you're browsing with Internet Explorer. And other browsers as well, for that matter. Maybe not so much right now, but it'll probably "get worse" in the future.. I'm not even going to bother checking the compatibility from now on.

I did however test my blog in different browsers @ BrowserShots, a free open-source online service that "makes screenshots of your web design in different browsers .. on different Operating Systems". It might take a while, if you want to test your site thoroughly, but it's quite interesting. Some of the results look really funny.. and it made my stats go sky high, compared to any other day - I think I need to do this more often..

Anyhoo, here are some of the results (browser/OS) for this blog, as far as I could tell from the screenshots:
WIN - Chrome 5.0.375.99/Win XP ; SeaMonkey 1.1.16/FreeBSD 7.1 ; Navigator 9.0.0.6/Win XP ; Safari 3.2.3/Mac OS X10.5 (Leopard) ; Opera 10.0/Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) ; Opera 8.54/Win XP
OK - Camino 2.0.3/Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
FAIL - MSIE (Explorer) 6.0 and 7.0/Win XP ; Avant 11.7/Win XP ; Iceape 3.6.3/Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) ; Netscape 8.1.3/Win XP ; Firefox 3.6/Win XP (which is weird, 'cause it worked just fine for me)

The screenshot I got for MSIE 8.0/Win XP wasn't good enough to show me anything of value

- but I don't need it to tell you, it looks like bleh! Same goes for IE8.0/Win 7..

And, while on the subject of compatibility, I might as well point out that the blog is not optimized for a specific screen resolution. I alter between a 10.1" (resolution 1024 x 600) netbook and a 17" (resolution 1680x1050) laptop when I blog, but I wouldn't say it's optimized for either of them - definitely not the smaller one - so I'll just go with: the bigger the better! When it comes to screens, size does matter..

Bent in awe..

Yes, pun is intended..

Every time, which isn't very often, I hear the word scoliosis, it always has me thinking of Achmed the Dead Terrorist - which, in turn, has me LMFAO.

"Well, I went the doctor. ... The idiot goes 'Eyy, let's take an X-ray.' I said 'You idiot! How about a fricking Polaroid?!"
"Help! I'm twisted and I can't get up!"

However, scoliosis in itself isn't really that much of a laughing matter - it's a medical condition in which a person's spine is curved from side to side. [..though you can't blame Jeff Dunham for using it in his Achmed-sketches; after all, Achmed is a skeleton..]
And hence, it is also part of what makes this guy amazing:

Brain Gaynor - So You Think You Can Dance, Season 7 audition

Interestingly, when the show aired on TV in my country, the song playing during the dance was an instrumental song. And it wasn't even the instrumental version of Fireflies, which is obviously -watching this video- the song he is really dancing to.. Why the change?

Here are some more YouTube videos featuring Brian:

Twitter me this, twitter me that..

..who's afraid of a big twitter twat?

I've just added my twitter feed to the blog, so I can quit nagging you about visiting my twitter page.. Nah, just kidding - I did it for the fun of it and because I tweet a lot more than I blog. This way, if you've come here and I've been evil enough not to blog in a while, you can still see what I'm up to without having to leave this page.

If you have a twitter account,
don't be a stranger

You can find this (and other) "Follow Me"-button(s),
and link it to your own twitter page, right here:

This whole "Follow Me"-thing always has me singing the Uncle Cracker song, a song I don't particularly like. Hence, here's another song with that very title, by Swedish band Pain featuring Anette Olzon (of Finnish band Nightwish):

On hiatus..

I haven't forgotten my blog, not at all. I've just been lost in a different world, with nothing much to blog about. Well, that's not entirely true, but I'm not going to start gushing on about the stories I read. At least not right here, not right now.

Also, I've been in more of a twitter mood, though only slightly so. You are more than welcome to visit me @ twitter.com/zellzynt, it's usually updated more frequently than this blog. However, I rarely write anything profound. :P Just so you know.. Which probably means it doesn't, in that sense, differ much from my blogging.

I only have one day left of my vacation, tomorrow, and these past two weeks have flied by. I've mostly been reading, hence the "lost in a different world", and.. Hmm, that's pretty much it I guess. Got some studying done this week, but not nearly as much as I should've, and I also went to the mall to, for the first time in a long time, shop for something other than groceries. My brother and his wife are expecting their second child and she is due any day now, and I'm not sure that I'll be able to meet the baby until sometime in September, so I decided I wanted to give them some baby gifts now, since we were all going to be visiting my parents. I bought some baby clothes, found the cutest little tiny [<-- pleonasm!] knitted cardigan with pockets, and a pyjamas for the big-sister-to-be.

Friday was Midsummer's Eve here in Sweden, one of our most celebrated holidays. I met up with my brother's family at my parent's house in my old home town. We had some traditional Swedish food [matie, sour cream, chives, early potatoes, meatballs etc], went to a traditional day-time celebration [with folk dancing and a maypole] and then went back home for a relaxed evening with more food [barbaque this time - and strawberry cake] and crappy TV programs.
My brother tried to explain the difference between binary, decimal and hexidecimal - or more precisly, how come the hexidecimal A equals a decimal ten.. Once we'd gotten through all the "base 2", "base 10" and "base 16" crap [I shouldn't be calling it crap, I find it really interesting - it's just that it's so logical, it becomes illogical, and things like that always have me confused], I think I finally got it.. I'm telling you, my brother is crazy smart when it comes to computer science. Thankfully for me, he's like a walking encyclopedia. :)

I left my parent's house after lunch yesterday, the drive home being a story quite of its own, and was back in the comfort of my livingroom in no time. I watched some TV and had some food, but then I was right back to where I've been spending most of my time lately

Yes, I might as well admit to it - I'm somewhat of a
Twilighter
"Fans of the series who are
up for debate,
free thought,
and intelligent discussion
rather than mindless praise
of who’s the hottest character."

It's all about the books, not so much about the movies..
If you haven't read the books, the outtakes, extras and the Midnight Sun draft etc,
you're in no position to pass judgement on me or question my sanity.
You are, however, more than welcome to question
other things, trust me when I say I do.
Or, perhaps I should say,
I dare you to.

And, enough with the sparkle/glitter/whatever already!
Find something else to whine about..

It's really weird.. My brain knows that tomorrow's [well, more like today by now] Monday, and that this week is a working week - but not until Tuesday, so.. I can't explain it, but it's like my mind is telling my body that tomorrow is a "get up early and go to work"-day.. and it's annoying, tensing and.. bleh!
And, of course, that being said - one of the guys working the night shift just called me, asking how to change  something..

Anyhoo, this became a rather long post, it being a "hiatus" one. I think it's time I get back to my main occupation - having new insight in the story, I have Dreamcatcher to partially re-read..
